The small, tranquil North-Eastern
Free State town of Villiers is situated on the banks of the Vaal
River, just 120km from Johannesburg (alongside the N3 towards Durban)
and 70km from Vereeniging (passing the Vaal Dam). Nearby towns include:
Warden (98km), Heidelberg (78km), Frankfort (33km), Vrede (61km),
and Vereeniging (70km).
This is a country getaway at its
best, with a town area of only 2.1km by 1.5km, no traffic lights,
only 3 tar roads and a small, but friendly community of about 2000
residents. Crime is almost non-existent under the watchful eyes
of the vigilant local SAPS and Neighbourhood Watch. With the community
being so small and everybody knowing who belongs where, kids and
teenagers have the freedom to safely walk around in the town.
Villiers is a birdwatcher-, hiker-
and fisherman's paradise and provides the ideal location for a weekend-getaway
from the bustling Gauteng and Vaal-Triangle.
The guest wing at my home consists
of two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and one bedroom has
two single beds. There is also a private TV room and a bathroom
with a bath. The second wing consists of a spacious lounge, diningroom,
kitchen and a second bathroom with a shower. This is the ideal overnight
pit stop for weary travellers to Gauteng who want to avoid the heavy
traffic on the N3 on busy afternoons.
A lock-up garage and carport are
available. The garden is park-like in its spaciousness, neat and
well kept. I live approximately 100 meters from the river - ideal
for strolling, bird watching and fishing. The house is situated
within walking distance of the business centre of Villiers, the
holiday resort with a swimming pool, and the local hotel is 50 meters
from my doorstep.
This will be an enjoyable stay in
the country side.
